Project partners are Cassidian Finland Oy, Descom Oy, Relator Oy, Ajeco Oy, and Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Ltd.
Jyväskylä is being built into the cyber security technology centre of Finland. The Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences together with Cassidian Finland Oy and other partners will start a new project, called JYVSECTEC (Jyväskylä Security Technology) to develop security technology in Central Finland. The project will create a collaborative network of security sector companies and other organisations in the Jyväskylä area. Together they will enhance their expertise and test, for example, the interoperability of products and solutions.

The JYVSECTEC project lays the foundation for further development of cyber security solutions. Through applied research, control systems will be developed in close collaboration with authorities.

The project will create an open development, testing and training environment that is suitable for the simulation of real-life situations and testing of those cyber security solutions which will be developed. The simulations will make it easier to take user requirements into consideration before starting work on the actual product development, thus giving users the opportunity to participate in the development project at the planning stage.

Goal of the JYVSECTEC project, scheduled for completion at the end of 2013, is to develop new process models and applications for special situations that will improve cooperation within the industry and strengthen the competitiveness of the participating companies and the region. Another goal is to increase international awareness of the possibilities for a development environment in Central Finland. Financial support for this project is provided by the Regional Council of Central Finland and the European Regional Development Fund.

Cassidian’s involvement in this project highlights the company’s strong commitment to supporting research activities in the cyber security area. On the 20th of September, Cassidian and Khalifa University opened a Cyber Operations Centre of Excellence in Abu Dhabi.
