New website dedicated to Alcatel-Lucent’s engagement with the WEF

Davos, January 25, 2011 - Alcatel-Lucent will be sending five of its management team to the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting at Davos to discuss the main theme, “Shared Norms for a New Reality”. Alcatel-Lucent’s five leaders are:

- Ben Verwaayen – Chief Executive Officer, WEF Foundation Board Member,

- Jeong Kim – President of Bell Labs,

- Rajeev Singh-Molares – President of the Asia-Pacific region,

- Adolfo Hernandez – President of the Europe, Middle-East and Africa region,

- Stephen A. Carter – Chief Marketing, Strategy and Communications Officer.

All will be available to meet customers, partners, stakeholders and members of the media at Davos.

At this year’s Annual Meeting 2011, Ben Verwaayen will be speaking on the topic “What are the key global risks at the top of the agenda in 2011” (Wed Jan 26th 9-10:15am). Some of the major challenges that Ben sees shaping the next two years include the transformation from physical to digital economies, how to be inclusive for the rural world and how we tackle climate change.

Ben will also be addressing “Innovation Driven Growth” on the Wednesday (10:45am–12pm). He will be looking at the technological innovations reshaping industries and addressing business models, value chains and consumer access.

In other sessions during the week, Jeong Kim will be speaking on “Energy Efficiency”. He will be updating members of the World Economic Forum on the GreenTouch™ initiative and its key milestones a year on towards making communications networks 1000 times more energy efficient.

As recently elected member of the WEF Foundation Board, Ben Verwaayen will also be a guest blogger for the WEF throughout the Annual Meeting.

New this year is the launch of an external website dedicated to Alcatel-Lucent’s engagement with the WEF. Coinciding with the opening of the Annual Meeting at Davos, the new site will provide a single source of information about Alcatel-Lucent’s partnerships and various commitments to WEF initiatives. The portal also includes detailed information on the Alcatel-Lucent executives who will be speaking at the WEF Annual Meeting 2011, and will feature their latest thoughts through daily blog posts, tweets, photos and videos.
