Building on the agreement made between Verizon and Alcatel in October 2004, the two companies will now offer Alcatel's OmniPCX Office voice, data and web communications platform, in conjunction with a choice of Verizon network services, and ongoing system maintenance and remote service management to customers nationwide in the U.S.

The nationwide availability of managed business communication services will enable IT managers to deliver Internet protocol (IP) technology throughout customers' networks. Bringing IP communications' advanced features, functions and capabilities such as Voice over IP, data networking and Internet capabilities to networks with as few as 6 to 250 users and outsourcing the IT and communications functions to one of the nation's leading service providers, provides small and mid-sized businesses the ability to leverage the latest in IP communications, while enabling them to focus internal resources and expertise on growing their core business.

Alcatel is working with service providers to grow their business, delivering a mix of products and services that provide enterprise customers the flexibility and choice for offloading part or all of their network and applications, management and operations, and staffing needs. Ultimately, the Managed Communications Solution helps accelerate the move to advanced business communication and customer interaction services, while transforming their core business processes and how they operate.

"We require a reliable telecommunications network to run our business as a managed service provider with a 7/24 call center," said Tom Pellegritti, chief financial officer at Inforonics, LLC, located in Boston, MA. "The Alcatel/Verizon managed communications services solution enabled us to take advantage of advanced applications and service offerings, while minimizing our overhead requirements of equipment, staffing and costs. Both Verizon and Alcatel proved throughout the process that they understood our data, voice and Internet needs and that was evident in the creation of value added offerings, such as a comprehensive disaster recovery plan, that are critical to the future success of our business."

This week at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas, NV, Alcatel will host a variety of presentations on managed business communications services to help bring together enterprise businesses and service providers. Visit Alcatel at booth #1224 for details.
