Thanks to Alcatel's complete communications infrastructure, the new expo center, which is currently the largest in Europe, will be able to deliver high-speed and high-quality voice and data services not only to internal users, but also to thousands of exhibitors and visitors.

Alcatel delivered the communications solution on a turnkey basis, managing all relevant phases from design to deployment, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

As part of this project, Alcatel will deliver network equipment, including over 2,000 kilometers of fiber-optic and copper cable, more than 3,000 phones, the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise, which will be able to manage up to 5,000 internal users, and 380 Alcatel OmniSwitch 6000 and 7000 nodes.

"This project is huge and complex considering the 14,500 cable connections points, 11 buildings and 530,000 square meters to cover. It further leverages Alcatel's capability to design a high-performances solution to serve all of the expo center's communications needs," said Frederic Rose, President of Alcatel's integration and services activities. "We are proud of the successful completion of the first phase of this project, which further strengthen Alcatel as a long-term partner for FastWeb in Italy."
